Building on the more than 25 year legacy of Philippine Network of Microbial Culture Collections (PNMCC), the Philippine Consortium of Microbial Resource Centers Inc. (PCMicRo) was formally established on February 2, 2026, following its registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under Registration No. 2026020235375-05.
PCMicRo represents the next chapter in the evolution of the Philippine Network of Microbial Culture Collections Inc. (PNMCC), broadening its long-standing mission from microbial culture collections to a nationally coordinated network of microbial resource centers and stakeholders. The Consortium was established to strengthen collaboration, promote information sharing and standardization, and enhance capacity building in microbial research and bioresource management across the country.
By bringing together academic institutions, government agencies, industry partners, and other organizations, PCMicRo aims to accelerate scientific discovery, support biotechnology innovation, and encourage the responsible management and utilization of microbial resources. Through this expanded network, the Consortium seeks to contribute to education, sustainable development, and the growth of the Philippine bioeconomy.
The establishment of PCMicRo marks a significant milestone in the continuing evolution of PNMCC’s mission, providing a stronger platform for collaboration and innovation while carrying forward its 25-year legacy of advancing microbial science in the Philippines.
