The Philippine Consortium of Microbial Resource Centers, (PCMicRO) Inc. aims to establish and sustain an integrated national consortium of microbial resource centers and stakeholders in the Philippines that facilitates collaboration, information sharing, standardization, and capacity building in microbial research and advancement, education, biotechnology applications, and sustainable development through the responsible use of microbial resources.
To fulfill its purpose, the Consortium shall:
Serve as a central hub and secretariat for Philippine microbial resource centers, providing a single point of contact for scientists, institutions, and stakeholders seeking information and technical guidance on microbial materials and data;
Strengthen collaboration and communication among individuals, institutions, and organizations involved in microbial research, conservation, and bioresource management;
Compile and maintain comprehensive information on microbial strains, materials, services, and expertise offered by member institutions to faciliate acccess and exchange;
Promote visibility and awareness of the country's microbial resources and technical capacities through publications, databases, digital platforms, and outreach activities;
Lead training and standardizatioin efforts in microbial isolatioin, identification, conservation, distribution, and biosecurity, including the implementation of best practices in quality management, and;
Develop and regularly update the Philippines microbial resource Directory, document the location, characteristics, and availability of microorganisms and related resources maintained by member institutions.
